Senior Engineering Team Lead - Commissioning
Location: Onsite in Beaver Dam, WI
Employment Status: Full Time | Direct Hire
Compensation: $128,000 $145,000 Annually + Bonus
Travel: Up to 50% (Overnight as Required)

The Opportunity
The Commissioning Manager Control Systems leads complex startup and commissioning efforts for industrial automation projects. This role owns technical execution in the field, directs commissioning teams, and partners closely with Project Managers, Engineering Managers, and customers to deliver safe, high-quality systems on schedule and within budget.
This position is ideal for a senior controls professional who thrives in fast-paced site environments, confidently leads technical teams, and serves as a trusted field authority for PLC, HMI, SCADA, and integrated control systems.
What Youll Do
Core Responsibilities
Lead startup and commissioning activities for complex control system projects
Troubleshoot and resolve PLC, HMI, SCADA, instrumentation, and industrial network issues
Interpret P&IDs, wiring diagrams, control narratives, and design documents
Provide constructability and field execution feedback to engineering teams
Ensure adherence to commissioning procedures, safety standards, and QMS requirements
Oversee system testing, startup sequencing, and performance validation
Collaboration & Communication
Serve as the primary technical point of contact for customers during commissioning
Lead daily field coordination meetings, walkdowns, and progress reviews
Coordinate with Project Managers to align scope, schedule, and reporting
Identify and escalate risks, scope changes, or schedule impacts early
Mentor technicians and engineers during startup and troubleshooting phases
Quality, Safety & Process
Enforce QA/QC standards and Quality Management System (QMS) compliance
Drive safe field execution and adherence to site-specific requirements
Support manpower planning, look-ahead scheduling, and task prioritization
Deliver accurate documentation and commissioning records
What Were Looking For
Education & Experience
B.S. in Electrical Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, Computer Science, or related discipline (or equivalent industry experience)
7+ years of controls engineering, commissioning, or system integration experience
Demonstrated leadership experience in field-based project environments
Skills & Qualifications
Advanced troubleshooting expertise with PLC, HMI, and SCADA systems
Strong knowledge of control system architecture and field commissioning practices
Experience with industrial instrumentation, networking, and startup sequencing
Working knowledge of QA/QC procedures and Quality Management Systems (QMS)
Strong leadership presence in high-pressure site environments
Effective communicator with customers, engineers, and field teams
Ability to manage priorities and adapt to evolving site conditions
Valid drivers license and authorization to work required
Preferred: Manufacturer certifications or advanced controls/automation training.
